Ricoh renews deal for Women’s British

Paula Creamer hits her second shot on the 18th hole during the second round of the 2009 Ricoh Women's British Open Championship held at Royal Lytham St Annes Golf Club.

Ricoh, best known for its office products and digital cameras, announced an agreement to continue sponsoring the Women’s British Open through 2013.

The deal, in collaboration with the Ladies Golf Union and sports marketing firm IMG, anchors one of the four majors in the LPGA schedule for the next few years.

It was welcome news for the tour, which is trying to keep its tournament calendar intact. The LPGA has at least 14 events booked for the 2010 calendar, including the four majors. Tour officials are in discussion with several other tournaments and have said they would be satisfied with 25 events worldwide next year.

Regarding the company’s partnership with the LPGA, Kirk Yoshida, Ricoh’s deputy president, said: “The Ricoh Women’s British Open has proved to be the perfect event to represent our brand worldwide and we are delighted to commit our future to the championship until at least 2013.”
