Matthew Scott Loving, a veteran of golf’s developmental circuit, was killed Dec. 4 when his SUV collided with a school bus near Runge, Texas.

The bus driver and 10 of the 13 pupils onboard were hospitalized with what investigators said were minor injuries. No cause of the crash had been determined.

Loving, 30, of San Antonio, had played mostly on the Nationwide, Hooters and Adams Golf tours since turning pro in 2001. However, last year, with a sponsor exemption to his hometown Valero Texas Open, he made the cut and finished 74th, earning $11,712.

He played for two years at Texas Tech before transferring to Texas A&M. He earned All-Big 12 Conference honors twice and made the all-academic team three times.

Loving is survived by his wife and 11-month-old daughter.
