The PGA Tour announced it has renewed two of its longtime corporate partners, Liberty Mutual and Delta Airlines.
Liberty Mutual, title sponsor of the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf for 30 years, has reupped through 2014, tournament officials said April 28.
The Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf is considered the tournament that launched the Champions Tour for players age 50 and older, and has been held at the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa in Savannah, Ga., since 2003.
“Liberty Mutual is delighted to continue our long association with this historic tournament,” said Edmund F. (Ted) Kelly, chairman, president and chief executive officer, Liberty Mutual Group. “The tournament and players have become very much part of the extended Liberty Mutual family and we look forward to preserving our relationship with them over the coming
Separately, Delta Air Lines has extended its designation as the “Official Airline of the PGA Tour, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour” for an additional two years, the Tour announced on April 30.
The Tour’s official airline sponsor since 1988, Delta will continue to offer select player benefits through 2010 such as upgrades and discounts to accommodate the travel needs of Tour players. Throughout the sponsorship, Delta has activated elements of the Delta brand and travel experience at the FedEx Cup Playoffs including The Barclays in New York, where Delta is the presenting sponsor of the Delta Global Pavilion. The partnership also provides Delta customers with Tour content onboard through in-flight entertainment and Sky magazine.
“This obviously is a very important category for our players, considering the amount of travel that is involved in our business,” said Tom Wade, the Tour’s chief marketing officer. “The players have been very pleased with the service provided by Delta for more than two decades.”
