The University of Houston will have a new coach in 2009-10.

Head men’s coach Vince Jarrett’s contract was not renewed, interim director of athletics John A. Robinson Jr., announced Sunday.

Jarrett, who was the fifth coach in program history, joined the Cougars for the 2003-04 season after serving at Abilene Christian.

“We thank Coach Jarrett for his six years of service, and we appreciate everything he has done,” Robinson said.

The Cougars won 16 NCAA Championships under the direction of Hall of Fame coach Dave Williams. Houston, which finished the 2008-09 season No. 144 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, last won a NCAA title in 1985.
