San Diego State runs away at Turtle Bay

All five San Diego State players, including the two co-medalists, shot under-par rounds Wednesday to push the Aztecs to an 18-shot runaway victory at the Turtle Bay Resort College Invitational.
San Diego State, No. 31 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, shot a final-round 14-under 274, the best round of the tournament, to finish at 26-under 838, 18 shots better than third-ranked Illinois.
Aztecs sophomore Alex Kang shot a final-round 68 to catch his teammate and fellow sophomore Andrew Cooley (71) at the top of the leaderboard. Both finished at 7-under 209, a shot better than Michael Drake of Long Beach State and Rick Lamb of Santa Clara.
Four San Diego State players finished in the top 6, helping the Aztecs to their first victory of the season and best finish since their season-opening runner-up finish at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate.
