White belts: Still trendy?
I’m not saying “No more white belts!” But I wonder: Has the trend reached its pinnacle?
All signs seem to point to yes.
Though Tiger Woods hasn’t jumped on the white-belt trend, it seems like everyone has a white belt in his or her golf closet. However, when guys like Kenny Perry and David Toms began wearing white belts on a weekly basis, we started to wonder if these guys are seeking the young-edgey look the white belt had going for it. Not that Perry, Toms and other tour pros in their 40s don’t sport the belt just as well as someone like Rickie Fowler, it’s just when kids, dads and grandfathers are all wearing the same look, something’s got to give.
What does this all mean? Tough to say. White belts will either be a staple that will be in the golf world for years to come. Or, white belts have made their mark and now it’s time to say good bye.
What’s the next trend to sweep golf? How about matching spikes to bold colored belts? Will metallic colors seen on the runways be on the fairways? Or will we see more guys wearing slimmer-looking pants and shirts?
What do you think?
