Pepper to exit the Golf Channel
Thursday, November 5, 2009
It is what passes as an off-season in golf – yes, even as tournaments go on all around us – so this is when decisions are made for the upcoming season.
Not only by players, but by those who call the plays.
In this case, it’s Dottie Pepper, the one-time LPGA Tour standout who has made the move into TV with great success. Almost too great, however, because to cut back on her heavy workload and give a bit more stability to her life, the two-time major winner has chosen to leave the Golf Channel and focus solely on her NBC job.
It’s an understandable move, given that in 2009 Pepper worked 35 tournaments between the Golf Channel and NBC. That’s a lot of airports, security lines and hassles – and too little time at home – which is where Pepper would like to be more often now that she’s moved back to the upstate New York area.
