Looks of the week: LPGA and Dubai
Wednesday, February 16, 2011
At the LPGA Tour Championship, the player with the best look for taking street fashion onto the fairways was . . . Anna Nordqvist.
Although Nordqvist isn’t setting this trend – Paula Creamer has sported this look in the past – it reminds us that it’s OK to shake up your golf look and incorporate some of your favorite trends from off the course onto the fairway.
We ladies know that putting rain pants over a skort can be awkward, so this look offers a great alternative to staying warm while looking good.
Now for a group that rarely gets mentioned in the fashion world . . . caddies!
From the deserts in the Middle East, caddies were the fairway fashionistas at the Dubai World Championship. They each sported the classic fit Big Pony polos by Ralph Lauren. The Big Pony polo was uniquely made for the caddies and their players. Each polo had the players’ name and home country flag on its back. It was an eye-catching marketing effort by the Ralph Lauren team and it will be interesting to see if this type of creative effort makes its way into future tournaments.
