BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – PGA Tour member Andrés Romero came back to Olivos Golf Club, and it payed off Sunday.

The Argentine won the Torneo de Maestros Copa Personal for the second time since 2006, his seventh Tour de las Americas victory. The 29-year-old from Tucuman led since Round 2, carding 3-under 68 Sunday en route to his second TLA victory this year. His 13-under 271 aggregate score tied the tournament record.

Countryman Fabián Gómez, who will be joining Romero next season on the PGA Tour, started the day with an eagle to get within one. However, the Nationwide Tour grad couldn’t get any closer, making three bogeys in his final-round 70. He finished a distant second at 8 under.

Romero, who ranked 69th this season in the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup standings, admitted he felt a little nervous after three-putting the first hole. “Although my ball striking was not that neat, I managed to collect some crucial birdies,” Romero said.

Defending champion Tom Lehman shot 69 Sunday to share third with Argentina’s César Costilla. readers: We value your input and welcome your comments, but please be respectful in this forum.
