Friday, January 22, 2010
The Canon Cup is heading northeast. The AJGA has unveiled Old Sandwich Golf Club in Plymouth, Mass., as the site of the 2010 matchup.
Old Sandwich, ranked No. 13 on Golfweek’s Best Modern Courses list, features a par-71 layout that tips out at 6,900 yards. It was designed by Ben Crenshaw and Bill Coore, and opened to the public in August 2004.
The 20th edition of the Canon Cup, which pits the top 10 boys and top 10 girls east of the Mississippi River against the top 10 boys and top 10 girls in the West, will be played July 26-29. Players are chosen based on the AJGA’s Polo Golf Rankings.
The West leads the series with an 11-8-1 overall record, and has claimed the last five Canon Cups.
