Perry adjusting to new, slim look
DUBLIN, Ohio – It’s been a month and Kenny Perry officially has the best diet in history.
The 49-year-old has dropped 32 pounds and lost two inches on his waist, going from a 36 to a 34 during the month of May.
All this without Weight Watchers or Slim Fast, but just good, old-fashioned willpower and exercise.
The downside? Perry’s clothes don’t fit. Because he has been on the road for the past four weeks and all of his size-34 pants are in the closet at home, Perry looks a little disheveled.
“I didn’t think I’d actually need them again,” Perry said of the 34s in his closet.
With no more holes in his current belts to keep his pants snug, Perry has some apparel changes to make, but that’s the easy part of it.
During the final round at Colonial, Perry couldn’t keep his hands steady and his body was shaking. After two three-putts in the first two holes, on what Perry called slow greens, the two-time Colonial winner ate some food on the third tee. By the sixth hole, he started feeling back to normal.
That was the only real negative Perry has experienced during the month.
“I couldn’t have made it last week if I had all that weight,” Perry said of the hot and humid conditions at Colonial.
Perry thinks he has lost enough weight and will continue to focus on getting in better shape.
I have to wonder how much damage Perry, who turns 50 Aug. 10, will do when he meets the 50-and-older set between the ropes.
