After a shaky start to the season, the Bulldogs captured their first team title of the fall Oct. 10 at the Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, Ga. Georgia, No. 16 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, shot a three-round total of 7-under 857 to edge hard-charging Augusta State, the defending NCAA champion, by a shot. Led by senior All-American Russell Henley, Georgia won for the 45th time under coach Chris Haack, a new school record. The Bulldogs finished sixth at the season-opening Carpet Capital Collegiate and third at the Ping/Golfweek Preview at Karsten Creek before leading wire-to-wire at the Brickyard.
Player of the week: Brooke Pancake, Alabama
The Crimson Tide junior earned her first career title after defeating LSU’s Megan McChrystal on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff at the Tar Heel Invitational. Pancake, who hasn’t finished worse than ninth in three starts this season, is No. 3 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings.
Team of the week: Alabama
The Crimson Tide, No. 3 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, earned its second team title of the season Oct. 10 at the Tar Heel Invitational, completing a dominant wire-to-wire victory in Chapel Hill, N.C. Alabama, led by junior Brooke Pancake, shot a three-round total of 11-under 277 for a 12-shot victory over No. 1 LSU at Finley Golf Course. Three Alabama players – Pancake, Camilla Lennarth (T-3) and Jennifer Kirby (T-6) – finished in the top 6 in leading Alabama to its second victory this fall, following a triumph at the season-opening NCAA Fall Preview.

New Callaway woods surface at McGladrey
A few weeks ago, Graeme McDowell tweeted about the new Callaway Diablo Octane Tour driver when he made an appearance at the Callaway National Sales Meeting. Now the club has started to show up in bags on the PGA Tour. Matt Kuchar, who is not a Callaway paid ambassador, carried the fairway wood in his bag at the Tour Championship.
