AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn’s women cruised to victory April 17 at the SEC Championship, finishing at even-par 864 and winning by a comfortable margin on its home course, the Auburn University Club. The Tigers were led by Cydney Clanton, who finished third individually at 2-under 214. She was joined by four other teammates in the top 20: Haley Wilson (11th), Marta Sanz (T-14), Patricia Sanz (T-14) and Carlie Yadloczky (T-19).

The Tigers, ranked No. 18 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, defeated No. 3 Alabama by 11 shots. Sixth-ranked LSU finished third, 23 shots behind Auburn in an field that included eight top-25 teams.

Tennessee’s Erica Popson earned individual medalist honors with rounds of 66-74-70 for a 6-under 210 total, good for a one-shot victory over Georgia’s Marta Silva, who shot a final-round 5-under 67. Silva entered at No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, while Popson was No. 17.
