Tzu-Chi Lin earned her first Futures Tour win March 27 at the season-opening Florida’s Natural Charity Classic. Lin shot her third consecutive round in the 60s Sunday at Lake Region Yacht and Country Club in Winter Haven, Fla., to move one spot up the leaderboard for a one-shot victory at 10-under 206.
Lin, of Taichung, Taiwan, is in her third season on the LPGA Futures Tour, and had just one top-10 finish before the 2011 season opener. Playing with Jackie Barenborg, a native of Vero Beach, Fla., who played at nearby Florida Southern, Lin birdied Nos. 11-14 and ended with a final birdie at No. 18 for a 69 to edge Barenborg. Both players began the day tied for second.
Laura Nochta, a recent Indiana graduate, held the first- and second-round lead, but faded away in the final round with a 4-over 76 that left her T-10 at 9-under 207.
Tiffany Joh finished one shot behind Nochta, at 8-under 208, while Yu-Ling Hsieh was fourth at 7-under 209.
Jennifer Johnson shot the round of the day, a 5-under 67, to make up for a second-round 74 that dropped her from T-4 to T-34. Johnson finished at 6-under 210 and in a share of fifth with Hannah Yun and Mo Martin.
