Michael Werenski of South Hadley, Mass., has given a verbal commitment to play college golf at Texas A&M. Werenski, ranked No. 112 in the 2013 class, is a junior at the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy on Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Werenski also made unofficial visits to Georgia Tech, where his brother Richard plays, and Arizona.
“When I made my visit to Texas A&M, I knew that it was the place for me. The facilities are second-to-none and centrally located on campus,” Werenski said. “Coach (J.T.) Higgins and his assistant Jim Anderson are able to figure out what it takes to get each individual player to the next level. Like my brother Richy, who plays for Georgia Tech, I wanted to play for a program that would force me to compete at the highest level each day at practice and in qualifying.”
Werenski has won nine International Junior Golf Tour events and collected three top-5 finishes in AJGA events.
