Yankovich (No. 147, 2012) commits to Iowa
Thursday, October 13, 2011
Nate Yankovich, who is from Blacklick, Ohio and ranked the No. 8 in the Buckeye State, has decided to play college golf at the University of Iowa.
Yankovich made unofficial visits to Xavier, Miami University (Ohio), Michigan State, Purdue, Illinois and Ohio State and had offers from Xavier, Miami and Michigan State.
“I fell in love with everything about the University of Iowa during my visit. Coach (Mark) Hankins has built a top-10 program and he has shown that he has the ability to make his players better during their four years,” Yankovich said. “Being a member of the Big Ten, Iowa has a great academic reputation that will challenge me off the course as well. Iowa City is a great college town and it was important for me to find a place that I felt comfortable and Coach Hankins and the University of Iowa made me feel that way.”
Yankovich, who attends St. Charles Preparatory, placed seventh at the Hudson Junior Invitational and finished 12th in a pair of AJGA events this past summer (AJGA Lockton Kansas City and the AJGA Junior at Quad Cities). St Charles Preparatory has won back-to-back Ohio State Division I state golf titles with Yankovich finishing in the top 10 each time.
