Crouch prevails in 4-hole playoff at St. Augustine Am

A.J. Crouch won the St. Augustine Amateur on Sunday after prevailing in a four-hole playoff with Jim Liu and Spencer Cole.

Crouch, a senior at Bolles High School in Jacksonville, Fla., led after the opening round at St. Johns Golf Club in St. Augustine, Fla., but finished regulation at 2-under 208. He and Cole, of Greenville, S.C., each birdied the first playoff hole to knock Liu out of the running. Liu won the 2010 U.S. Junior Amateur at the age of 14, supplanting Tiger Woods as the youngest player to win the championship.

At the fourth playoff hole, Crouch, 18, made another birdie to defeat Cole. Crouch is No. 14 in Golfweek's Junior Rankings for the class of 2012.
