ShopRite Classic to be played at Seaview in June
GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The ShopRite LPGA Classic near Atlantic City will be played in early June next year.
Tournament officials announced Wednesday that the 54-hole event will be played the week of May 28-June 3 at the Bay Course at Seaview Resort. Golf Channel will again televise the $1.5 million tournament.
Brittany Lincicome won last year's event.
Originally known as the Atlantic City Classic, the tournament began in 1986 and was played at several courses near Atlantic City, with the first two and last 11 years played at Seaview. The tournament was changed to the ShopRite LPGA Classic in 1992 when Wakefern Food Corp. became the title sponsor.
Since the 1990s, ShopRite has donated more than $24 million to charities by sponsoring LPGA tournaments.
