Peck to miss Texas A&M's postseason

Texas A&M proved it can win the Big 12 Championship without one of its best players. Unfortunately for the 13th-ranked Aggies, they won’t have junior Cameron Peck for the rest of the postseason either.
Peck, the team’s second-leading scorer (71.76), will miss the remainder of the season with a back injury, a devastating blow for a squad with national-title aspirations.
Texas A&M won its first Big 12 title on Sunday, shooting 13-over 1,165 to edge top-ranked Texas by three shots at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas. Freshman Tyler Duncan finished solo second, and was one of three Aggies who recorded top-10 finishes (Johannes Veerman, 6th; Jordan Russell, 9th).

Coach J.T. Higgins said Peck’s back has bothered him all season. At last week’s Aggie Invitational, Higgins said, “It got to the point that he could hardly walk, it hurt to sit down and would cause him to flinch on shots. He is a tough kid and wanted to play (at Big 12s), but he wasn’t sure he could finish and didn’t want to hit poor shots that could potentially cost us the tournament.”
Peck, who is ranked No. 43 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings, likely will not play the summer amateur schedule as well, Higgins said.
NCAA regionals begin May 17 at various sites around the country.
