Crane, Toms, Wilson share Humana lead
LA QUINTA, Calif. — Mark Wilson shot a 10-under 62 to tie Ben Crane and David Toms for the second-round lead at the Humana Challenge on Friday, topping a leaderboard filled with blistering scores for the second straight day.
Crane shot a 63 on the three-course tournament’s Palmer Private course to reach 16-under 128, while Harris English had a 62 on the Nicklaus Private course to join five players in fourth place at 13 under.
Extremely low scores always dominate the erstwhile Bob Hope Classic, which features two of the PGA Tour’s three easiest courses. Add a second day of ideal Palm Springs weather, and Crane says it’s like playing indoors.
Ryan Moore tied the Nicklaus record with a 61, yet is still five strokes back after an even-par opening round.
