Wiggins (No. 28, 2013) commits to Auburn

Victor Wiggins of Gastonia, N.C., has made a verbal commitment to play college golf for head coach Nick Clinard at Auburn.

Wiggins made unofficial visits to Wake Forest, North Carolina State, UNC-Greensboro and Auburn, and had scheduled a visit to Charlotte before committing to Auburn.

“Auburn is a world-class place,” said Wiggins, who is home-schooled and enrolled as a junior at Bridgeway Academy. “The coaches are genuine and seem authentically interested in the success of their athletes. As a student-athlete, I believe that the people and facilities at Auburn will allow me to fulfill my greatest dream of becoming the best golfer I possibly can. From what I have seen, the Auburn practice facilities are unparalleled. I am very much looking forward to what Auburn has in store for me.”

Wiggins, who is ranked No. 28 in the 2013 class, has never played in an AJGA event. He finished ninth at the Junior PGA Championship at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind., last summer and was selected as a 2011 first-team all-state golfer in North Carolina. Wiggins holds the course record at Clemson University's Walker Course after shooting an 11-under 61 en route to an 8-shot victory at the 2011 PGA Junior Series played there.
