Williamson top seed for North & South match play
Peter Williamson birdied the par-3 15th hole at Pinehurst No. 8 to defeat Albin Choi and Michael Cromie in a playoff and win medalist honors at the North and South Amateur Thursday in Pinehurst, N.C.
Williamson, Choi and Cromie, along with 13 others advance to match play, which begins Friday.
The medalist out of Dartmouth will face SMU signee Bryson DeChambeau in the Round of 16. DeChambeau finished five strokes behind Williamson through three rounds of stroke play.
Cromie of Georgia earned the No. 2 seed while North Carolina State's Choi is the third seed. Others making match play include Clifford Blanquicet, Ben Juffer, Lee McCoy and Thomas Sutton.
