Raber takes Trans-Mississippi Championship
Tyler Raber closed with a final-round 1-over 72 to win the Trans-Mississippi Championship on Thursday at Oak Tree National in Edmond, Okla.
Raber, who recently completed his senior season at UC Davis, finished at 2-under 282 for the tournament, a stroke ahead of runner-up Steven Ihm, of Peosta, Iowa, and a senior at Iowa.
Arkansas senior Austin Cook, of Jonesboro, Ark., was third at 1-over 285 while Wichita State's Calvin Pearson, a South African, placed fourth, four strokes behind Raber.
Raber's final round was highlighted by just two birdies, but a second-round 6-under 65 was a big lift. Raber, of El Macero, Calif., had eight birdies Tuesday, including four straight at Nos. 13-16.
