Anne Walker, head coach at UC Davis, will take the reins at Stanford this fall. She replaces longtime coach Caroline O’Connor, who resigned in May.

“Anne possesses an enthusiasm for the sport of golf and the student-athlete experience as well as an understanding of the mission, vision and values of Stanford Athletics,” said interim Director of Athletics Patrick Dunkley. “I look forward to working with Anne and to seeing the success she will bring to the golf program.”

Walker led the UC Davis program for four years, during which time the Aggies jumped from Division II to Division I. The team won five regular-season titles and two Big West Conference titles under Walker and advanced to one NCAA Championship. The Aggies also climbed to a top-20 national ranking for the first time in program history.

“My fiance Chris and I are thrilled to be joining the Stanford family,” said Walker. “The women’s golf program has a rich and storied history, one which I am now privileged to be a part. Stanford University is the nation’s finest institution and I am grateful to the Athletic Department for affording me this opportunity. I look forward to working closely with the current team players, Coach Conrad Ray and the men’s team as we continue to build the tradition of Stanford Golf.”

Walker played collegiately for California and after graduating in 2002, immediately stepped in as an assistant coach.
