Alex Ching of San Diego shot a final-round 3-under 69 to claim medalist honors at the Fresno State Lexus Golf Classic.

Ching (7-under 209) held off Alex Edfort of Pacific by four shots, while Jake Johnson of Sacramento State finished third at 2 under. Ching, the 2011 West Coast Conference Golfer of the Year, also won the San Diego Intercollegiate in the fall.

Ching’s victory was not enough to push the Toreros into the winner’s circle, however, as Oregon State claimed a six-shot victory against runner-up Washington State.

The Beavers were led by Casey King and Jonnie Motomochi, both of whom tied for 12th, while Alex Moore and Matt Rawitzer tied for 14th. Nick Sherwood rounded out Oregon State’s scoring with a T-22 finish.

San Diego finished third at 16 over, while Pacific took fourth at 19 over.
