MasterCard announced it will extend its role as presenting sponsor of the Arnold Palmer Invitational for an additional four years, through 2016.
Since 2004, the company has partnered with the Tour event, which generates funds for the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies in Orlando.
“Throughout the first nine years of our partnership, MasterCard has helped raise more than $1.8 million that have directly impacted Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children,” Arnold Palmer said in a statement. “I am looking forward to continuing our partnership over the next four years to deliver a world-class event for our players and fans, while continuing to support the hospitals.”
In 2013, the company will activate its sponsorship by adding opportunities such as the ability to purchase tickets to a MasterCard cardholder hospitality tent, increased discounts on tournament tickets, and golf lessons with a PGA teaching professional during the weekend of the tournament.
Said Chris McWilton, president of U.S. markets for MasterCard: “As we continue our sponsorship, we’ll have an ability to . . . create greater affection for the tournament and for our products.”
MasterCard has been a sponsor of the PGA Tour and Champions Tour since 1995.
