Cal claims fourth team title with MacKenzie runaway

California earned another victory this season, its fourth in a row, with a 20-shot routing at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational. The Golden Bears were a collective 46-under par through three rounds at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif.

Cal, ranked No. 1 by Golfweek, went wire to wire at the Meadow Club, pulling away with an opening 19-under 265. San Francisco was the next closest pursuer by week’s end with a 26-under 836 team total. Colorado State was third at 13 under and BYU was fourth at 8 under.

California also claimed the individual medalist in Brandon Hagy. The junior shot rounds of 64-62-72 at the par-71 layout to finish at 15-under 198, three shots ahead of runner-up Taylor Travis of San Francisco. Two of Hagy’s teammates, Joel Stalter (T-3) and Michael Kim (T-5) also finished in the top 5.
