Jim Furyk fine with new driver, putter
PGA Championship runner-up Jim Furyk requested a new Odyssey Versa No. 1 Wide (white-black-white) putter on Monday and received it at Oak Hill the next day.
It had a single-bend shaft rather than a standard double-bend shaft (Furyk prefers the single-bend look). It had some extra offset to fit his eye, and it was 35 1/2 inches (an increase of one-half inch for Furyk).
Furyk also continued to play with a Callaway FT Optiforce driver that he added to his bag two weeks earlier at the RBC Canadian Open. It was the 440cc version with a Fujikura Speeder VC 6.2X shaft tipped one inch with a finished length of 44 1/2 inches. The measured loft was 10.1 degrees.
