2012-13 Golfweek rank: 7
Go-to girl: Sophomore Aurora Kan
Season outlook: The loss of Paula Reto, Laura Gonzalez-Escallon and Kishi Sinha will no doubt affect the Boilermakers. As freshmen in 2009-2010, the trio were part of Purdue's first national-championship team. As seniors last year, the three led the Boilermakers to a third-place NCAA finish, combined for 19 top 10s and all finished inside the top 100 of the final Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings.
This year's Purdue roster will be much younger, and junior Aurora Kan and sophomore Margaux Vanmol – the only returning starters – must step up and lead the Boilermakers early. Kan (six) and Vanmol (five) combined for 11 top-15 finishes last season. Five other underclassmen – Brooke Beegle, Jessica Hollinger, Colleen Mahoney, Alex Pettigrew and Liz Schwartzers – will compete for the other starting spots.
The future looks bright for the Boilermakers, but there likely will be plenty of growing pains as the youngsters adjust to college golf and Kan and Vanmol assume bigger roles on and off the course.
