Miramont CC to host Junior PGA in '14, '15

The PGA of America announced on Tuesday that Miramont Country Club in Bryan, Texas, as the host site for the 2014 and ’15 Junior PGA Championships. The course, which opened in 2005, will bring the prestigious junior championship to the state of Texas for the first time since the championship began in 1976.
“We have always wanted to support amateur and junior golf,” said Brad Lardon, director of golf at Miramont. “Everyone associated with Miramont Country Club is thrilled to host the Junior PGA Championship over the next two years.”
The 2014 championship, to be played July 29-Aug. 1, will be the final qualifying event for the U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team. That event takes place Sept. 22-23 at Blairgowrie Golf Club in Perthshire, Scotland. The 2015 Junior PGA Championship will be played Aug. 3-6.
“We are extremely proud of the fact that the Junior PGA Championship has evolved into one of the most prestigious in all of junior golf, and has helped produce some of the most accomplished players in our game today,” said PGA of America President Ted Bishop. “The PGA of America is also looking forward to bringing this championship to a wonderful facility like Miramont Country Club over the next two years.”
Prior to Miramont, the Junior PGA Championship has been played at Trump National Golf Club in Potomac Falls, Va., and Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Tyler McDaniel and Amy Lee, the 2013 champions, both are eligible to return for a title defense.
