San Diego junior Grant Forrest, Kentucky senior Ben Stow and incoming Northwestern freshman Matthew Fitzpatrick have qualified for the Open Championship at Muirfield, July 18-21.

Forrest, from North Berwick, Scotland, finished the 2012-13 season with a 72.57 scoring average. The 20-year-old had nine top-10 finishes, including capturing the West Coast Conference (WCC) Individual Championship. He was named the 2012 WCC Freshman of the Year.

Stow made his Wildcats debut in the spring when he finished tied for 27th at the Mobile Intercollegiate. In addition, the Salisbury, England, native had one top-10 and four top-20 finishes.

Fitzpatrick has a big junior golf resume already. The 17th-ranked amateur in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, Fitzpatrick won the 2012 British Boys Amateur Championship. The Sheffield, England, native is also a member of the Great Britain and Ireland junior team.

Said Northwestern head coach Pat Goss when Fitzpatrick signed his letter of intent in November: "He is the most significant player we have signed since Luke Donald and will make an immediate impact on our program. Watching him play this summer (2012) I was not only impressed with his game but also his personality, demeanor and competitiveness. Matt really understands what Northwestern represents and fits our values well."

Chattanooga's Steven Fox, who recently completed his senior season, had qualified by winning the 2012 U.S. Amateur. Rhys Pugh, a junior at East Tennessee State, will also play in the Open via his victory at the 2012 European Amateur Championship. Pugh also played on the 2011 Walker Cup Team for Great Britain and Ireland.
