Tulane's new women's golf head coach is Lorne Don, the school announced Friday.

Don joins the Green Wave after 10 seasons as an assistant with the Michigan State Spartans women's team.

"His impressive work in all phases of helping build his former program into a consistent national contender, along with his dedication and longevity were traits that stood above the rest," Tulane athletic director Rick Dickson said in a statement.

Last season, Tulane won the Conference USA title and finished ninth at the NCAA Championships.

Don, originally from Ontario, Canada, played for Michigan State from 1999-2003.

"Tulane golf has a history of success, first under Sue Bower, and the five years since the program was re-instated," Don said. "The team plays at a high level and has four great players returning and two outstanding incoming freshmen."
