Carter Jenkins of Raleigh, N.C., won the Rex Hospital Junior Invitational on June 16 and earned a sponsor exemption into the Web.com Tour’s Rex Hospital Open. Jenkins shot 8-under 63 at The Player’s Club at Wakefield Plantation in Raleigh, and will tee it up at the Rex Hospital Open on June 20.

“I had high expectations for the tournament today,” Jenkins said. “I wanted to win this one pretty bad.”

Jenkins also won this event in 2011. Then 15, he became the third-youngest player to compete in the event.

Grayson Murray, who won the qualifier in 2010 and 2012, will caddie for Jenkins at the Rex Hospital. Murray qualified for last week’s U.S. Open, where he missed the cut. Both players will join the North Carolina-Greensboro roster in the fall, and already played together at Leesville High School.

Jenkins is ranked No. 33 in the Golfweek Junior Rankings.
