Excel Sports Management has added another top college player to its stable in Thomas Pieters, who recently completed his junior season at Illinois. Pieters won the 2012 NCAA individual championship, and this year led his team to the final match against Alabama. The Illini finished runner-up.

Pieters, a native of Niljen, Belgium, will make his professional debut this week at the Scottish Hydro Challenge in Aviemore, Scotland and will compete two weeks later in the Alstom Open de France.

“With his skill and style of play, Thomas has a great deal of potential to succeed at the professional level,” said Lance Young, the Excel agent who will be representing Pieters. “We are thrilled to be working with him as he begins the next chapter in his golf career, and we look forward to helping him cultivate his brand around the world.”

Pieters ended his career at Illinois with 18 top-10 finishes and three victories. He finished this season ranked No. 38 in the Golfweek/Sagarin College Rankings.

“I decided at age 14 that I would move to the United States to pursue my college career, and that was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” said Pieters. “All of the experience I gained in college and with overseas competition has prepared me for the exciting road ahead, and I am very excited to be working with Excel Sports along the way.”

Excel Sports also signed Chris Williams, a recent Washington graduate, earlier this week.
