Coastal Carolina edges Iowa State at Mount Vintage

Coastal Carolina earned its first victory of the season Sunday by edging Iowa State at the Purdue Mount Vintage Invitational.
The Chanticleers went back and forth with Iowa State throughout the weekend at Mount Vintage Plantation Golf Club in North Augusta, S.C. Coastal Carolina pulled away with a 6-over 294 in Round 2, but Iowa State outscored the eventual winners by five shots in the final round. Coastal Carolina won by one shot with a 46-over 910.
Host Purdue was third, three shots behind Coastal Carolina, and Augusta State was fourth, 19 shots behind that.
Augusta State’s Casey Kennedy won the individual title with a 3-over 219. Iowa State’s Chonlada Chayanun and Purdue’s Laura Gonzalez were T-2 at 7 over 223.
