Freshman Nistrup guides LSU to Schooner lead
LSU climbed into the lead Sunday at the Schooner Fall Classic on the shoulders of freshman Caroline Nistrup’s 5-under 65.
LSU posted an 11-over 291 under clear skies Sunday at Belmar Golf Club in Norman, Okla., and jumped from third to first. The Tigers are 26 over for 36 holes.
Nistrup had six birdies and a single bogey, and pulled into the individual lead at the inaugural event. Nistrup is 2 under for the tournament, and teammate Madelene Sagstrom trails by two at even-par 140. She is tied for second with Oklahoma State’s Jayde Panos.
First-round co-leaders Arizona State (295) and Oklahoma State (296) are second and third, respectively.
The biggest leaderboard climb of Round 2 belonged to tournament host Oklahoma, which carded the best team score of the day, 6-over 286. With that round, Oklahoma went from 12th to fourth, and is seven shots out of the lead entering the final round. Freshman Alexandra Kaui posted the best round for the Sooners on Sunday, a 1-under 69. She is fifth individually.
