San Diego State won the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown on Tuesday behind freshman Sirene Blair, who won her first college title.
The Aztecs posted a final-round 289 and finished 36 holes at Stallion Mountain Golf Club in Las Vegas with a 3-over 579 total. San Diego State edged a trio of schools by two shots as UNLV, Central Florida and Texas Tech all tied for second. The tournament was shortened to 36 holes because of high winds.
“Our team was very patient and committed to the process today,” said SDSU head coach Leslie Spalding. “I was extremely proud of their effort and determination.”
Blair 6-under 138 included a final-round 67 that helped her secure the top spot. Blair edged UCF freshman Ashley Holder by two shots.
