Walker Cup memories: Russell Henley, USA
Friday, September 6, 2013
For Russell Henley, he had already won on the Web.com Tour and easily could have turned professional before the Walker Cup at Royal Aberdeen, but decided to wait and was glad he did.
“It was a ton of fun,” Henley said. “I'm really happy I did it and stayed amateur. The guys you meet on the team, and just being a part of that, is just a really cool deal. I definitely would do it again if I could.”
Some of the teammates with whom Henley played include Harris English and Jordan Spieth. All three have won on the PGA Tour this year.
“Harris and Jordan being out here is great, and any time you can spend some time like that with another player, you can definitely get to know them.” Henley said of his former Walker Cup teammates. “I'm very friendly with Jordan and Harris, and we get along great.”
