PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Multiple title defenses will take place at this week’s Golfweek Program Challenge.

Campbell is trying to win a third straight overall program championship and second consecutive women’s team crown, while James Madison’s Trey Smith is looking to repeat as the men’s individual champion.

The Camels women’s team will return to Caledonia Golf and Fish Club looking for similar success after last year’s 40-shot victory. Campbell placed all five of its players in the top eight a year ago, including individual champion Brooke Bellomy.

Bellomy, however, is not in this week’s lineup. Instead, Camels coach John Crooks will start a lineup that includes senior Kaylin Yost, who earned Big South player-of-the-year honors last year; juniors Lisbeth Brooks and Ali Prazak; sophomore Tahnia Ravnjak; and freshman Louise Latorre.

On the men’s side, Smith isn’t the only former individual winner in the field. Jacksonville State’s Tomasz Anderson won the individual title two years ago at True Blue Plantation, which serves as the men’s course for the tournament.

Defending team champion Central Arkansas is not in the field this year, but Old Dominion, Northern Iowa and Boston College are among the 12 teams competing in the event, which runs Sunday-Tuesday.

After the three rounds, the team with the best combined score, men’s and women’s, will win the program championship.
