The Special Olympics North America Golf Invitational Tournament will be played Oct. 17-20 at the Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club in Galloway, N.J. The event will feature more than 180 golfers from 23 Special Olympics programs in North America.
Golfers will compete at five levels of play. The event will begin Oct. 17 with an Olympic-style opening ceremony and will consist of 54 holes at Seaview’s Pine and Bay courses.
“While this tournament is an annual event, bringing together the best Special Olympics golf teams and players from throughout North America, this year is different,” said Bob Gobrecht, President of Special Olympics North America, “Less than one year from now, New Jersey will host the United States’ best golfers, as part of the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games – the most dynamic, innovative, and largest national Games to date. We thank New Jersey for its hospitality and applaud all of our athletes who are competing at the Invitational.”
KPMG is the presenting sponsor of the Special Olympics North America Golf Invitational Tournament, and will be joined by the PGA of America, USGA and PGA Tour, all longtime sponsors. The Special Olympics golf programs began in 1988.
