After a victorious turn on the U.S. Walker Cup team, Max Homa and Justin Thomas turned professional. Both will make their debuts at the Frys.com Open on sponsor exemptions. The event will be played Oct. 10-13 at CordeValle Golf Club in San Martin, Calif.
Homa, a native of Valencia, Calif., won the individual title at the NCAA Championship this spring as a senior at California. Thomas, of Goshen, Ky., won the Nicklaus and Haskins awards at the end of the 2011-12 season as a freshman at Alabama.
Homa built a 2-1-0 record at the Walker Cup, and Thomas went 2-0-1.
The Frys.com Open, the first event on the PGA Tour's 2013-14 season, has six additional sponsor exemptions to award. Open qualifying for four places in the 132-player field will be held on Oct. 7 at Bayonet Golf Course in Seaside, Calif. Entries from PGA Tour players close Oct. 4.
