Dreams do come true. Winning the U.S. Women’s Amateur this summer was an achievement that only a few people get to experience. I feel honored and blessed having my name beside all the great players on the trophy. I joked after the tournament that I did not know what I would do with the trophy. I decided that I would bring it back to the University of Alabama. However, I will have to wait until my parents can bring it to Tuscaloosa. After I won, people also asked me what I was going to do next and I told them that I would be going back to school to qualify for the team. That is exactly what I did.
When I got back to school, it was everything I expected and more. The first night that I went into our dining hall, several other athletes congratulated me on the tournament. I was surprised that some of them even knew about it, but that is exactly why I came to school here! However, I knew that qualifying for the first tournament was my next priority. With our team set, we were prepared to go to the Fall Preview in Tulsa, Okla. The week did not go as well as I would have liked, but I realized I needed to go back to the basics. The great thing about the tournament is that our team got to see the national championship course. We finished fourth as a team. When we got back to campus we had to start getting ready for another tournament in Nashville! One shot at a time, as Coach (Mic) Potter says, and as my mom says, “Make a difference.”
Besides golf, my time at the University of Alabama is going great! I have great friends and I love just being on campus here. Several of my friends are athletes and it is so cool to go see them play! My team and coaches are awesome! I never thought that this year would be as good as last year, but it just keeps getting better!
Y’all have a good one! God Bless! Roll Tide Roll!
