Perry edges Langer for 3M Championship title
Sunday, August 3, 2014
Kenny Perry delivered a clutch up-and-down birdie at the final hole to hold off Bernhard Langer and win the 3M Championship Sunday in Blaine, Minn.
Perry was tied with Langer, last week's Senior British Open winner by a Champions Tour-record 13 shots, entering the par-5 18th hole at TPC Twin Cities. Langer, playing a group in front of Perry, made par to cap a final-round 9-under 63 and finish at 22-under 194.
After hitting his second shot into the grandstands, Perry got up and down to make birdie, draining a 15-foot putt to seal his second victory of the season. Perry, who also won the Regions Traditions this season, now has seven Champions Tour wins.
Gene Sauers, Jeff Maggert and Marco Dawson tied for third at 20 under.
