Georgia takes first-round lead at The Carmel Cup

The 2014-15 college season is officially underway and its the Georgia Bulldogs who have taken the first round lead at The Carmel Cup.
The Bulldogs, No. 9 in Golfweek's preseason rankings, shot an 8-under 352 in the play-six-count-five format at Pebble Beach (Calif.) Golf Links.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs was junior Lee McCoy, who shot a 5-under 67. McCoy, who was co-medalist at this year's U.S. Amateur, is tied for the lead with Vanderbilt's Hunter Stewart.
In the eight-team tournament Texas Tech sits in second, three shots back of Georgia. Rounding out the top three is Oklahoma who shot a 1-under 359.
Texas Tech's Clement Sordet and McCoy's teammate Nicholas Reach are tied for second after 4-under 68s.
The 54-hole tournament will continue Saturday at 7:10 a.m. PST.
