REUNION, Fla. – It took 32 holes for Bethany Wu to pull it off.

She finally managed to record a bogey at the Annika Invitational when she missed a putt on the par-5 14th hole Sunday.

Wu shot a second straight 4-under 68 at Reunion Resort, creating more distance between herself and the field.

“I like the greens out here. For some reason, I always play well here. My second shots into the green are always really good,” Wu said after nabbing birdies on two of her final four holes. “Approach shots were really great today. Driving was not as great as yesterday, but the approach shots made up for it.”

Wu, a UCLA class of 2015 verbal commit, was 2 under on par-3s Sunday. Her lone bogey came on a par-5 after driving the ball into a bunker in the middle of the fairway, then missing the green with her third shot and hitting her chip too strong before two-putting.

“(I’ll) probably take the same strategy. Maybe tomorrow I’ll take harder shots and go for it more,” Wu said. “But it’s probably going to be the same game plan. I like (playing with a lead); it gives me some cushion from the other girls.”

Yuting Shi, a class of 2016 golfer from Beijing, seized sole possession of second place after shooting a 3-under 69 Sunday. Shi birdied five of her first eight holes, but failed to record a birdie on the back nine.

Ziyi Wang dropped to third after shooting a 73. Sophia Schubert and Megan Khang round out the top five at 1 over.

If Wu can hold on to her five-stroke lead, she will be the only player in the tournament’s history to win in consecutive years. She is the No. 3 player in the Golfweek/Sagarin junior girls rankings.

Nicole Morales, the No. 1 player in the Golfweek rankings, bounced back with three birdies on the back nine Sunday. She is T-17 at 5 over for the tournament.
