Sam Dickey has announced that he has verbally committed to play college golf at New Mexico.

Dickey is the 40th-ranked junior in the Golfweek/Sagarin junior rankings for the Class of 2016.

“I was fortunate to be recruited by a lot of great schools,” said Dickey, a rising junior at Las Vegas’ Arbor View High School. “I am convinced that New Mexico is the perfect fit for me. The Lobos' coaches, golf facilities, tournament schedule, strength training and academics are everything I was looking for in a college and more. I look forward to helping Coach Millican and Coach Garren bring a national championship to New Mexico.”

Dickey made unofficial visits to over a dozen schools, including UNLV, Oklahoma State, SMU, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech, UCLA, and South Carolina.

He is a past champion of the Texas-Oklahoma Junior, the Western States Players Cup, and more than 50 local tournaments in Nevada and Oklahoma. Dickey has garnered six top-20 finishes in AJGA competition, including this year’s ClubCorp Mission Hills Desert Junior (eighth) and the Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic (T-17). Dickey has also placed second in the Pepsi Little Peoples Golf Championship and the Odyssey World Junior Golf Championship, and twice placed in the top 15 in the Callaway Junior World Golf Championships.
