Pacific has announced Chris Hill as head men’s golf coach.
Hill will head to Pacific after working at Houston for the past four years. Houston recently finished 10th at the NCAA Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
Hill was honored in April as the recipient of the 2014 Jan Strickland Award, presented to the nation's top assistant coach by TaylorMade-Adidas Golf as selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). It marked the second straight season that Hill was recognized as one of the nation's top assistant coaches. He was honored as one of eight semifinalists in 2013.
"We are excited to have someone of Chris' caliber come in to lead our golf program," said Dr. Ted Leland, Vice President for External Relations and Athletics. "He brings top level experience at the NCAA Championships and understands what it takes to compete with the best. He is also prepared to bring in the type of golfer that will succeed on the course and in the classroom."
Prior to his time at Houston, Hill spent two years as the assistant at Houston Baptist. Hill also worked as a certified instructor and director of college placement at the Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head, S.C., in 2007-08.
"It is a huge honor to be selected by Dr. Leland, Jim Dugoni and the selection committee to lead the Pacific men's golf program," said Hill. "This is an incredible opportunity to work with the highest quality student-athletes. My family and I are excited to join the Pacific family and the Stockton community."
