Ping G30 driver set for Bubba Watson
Monday, June 30, 2014
Bubba Watson will use a new Ping G30 driver in the Greenbrier Classic, which starts Thursday in White Sulphur Spring, W.Va.
Ping began the process of introducing the G30 driver and fairway woods at The Greenbrier and also at the European Tour’s Alstom Open de France.
Watson used a Ping G25 driver in winning his second Masters in April. Like the G25, his new G30 driver (9 degrees loft) features a clubhead and shaft that are predominantly pink.
Ping is expected to begin selling the G30 driver, fairway woods, hybrids and irons in early August. At this point, just the driver and fairway woods are available on the PGA Tour and PGA European Tour.
The crown of the driver head features raised ridges, similar to the designs seen on the side-view mirrors of some luxury automobiles. The purpose is to improve air flow.
Ping has declined to discuss the G30 products at this time.
