OWGR: Henley to 46th; No. 1 in jeopardy at Doral
Monday, March 3, 2014
Russell Henley's victory Sunday at the Honda Classic didn't just earn him a Masters berth, but also a spot in this week's WGC-Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral.
Henley jumped 64 spots to 46th in the latest Official World Golf Ranking. It's the highest world ranking ever for the former University of Georgia player, who reached 50th after his 2013 Sony Open victory.
The other three players involved in the four-man playoff Sunday at PGA National – Rory McIlroy moved to sixth, Ryan Palmer improved to 59th and Russell Knox rose to 119th.
Here's what the OWGR top 10 looks like now – Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Henrik Stenson, Jason Day, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Zach Johnson, Sergio Garcia and Dustin Johnson.
Woods, who withdrew during the final round of the Honda Classic, remains No. 1, but reports say that ranking may be up for grabs this week in Doral. If Adam Scott wins and Woods finishes outside the top 5-7, Golf Channel reports, Scott would move into the top spot.
