Kuchar already pumped about the Ryder Cup

DUBLIN, Ohio – In terms of wanting to shop for clothes, a man most acts like a woman when he walks into a golf pro shop and sees logos plastered on everything, your correspondent has long maintained.
Matt Kuchar understands the concept.
“And how much we spend has to do with the logo,” he said, smiling as usual.
Kuchar had golf attire on his mind because players are being fitted for Ryder Cup clothes this week at the Memorial Tournament. The top 25 in points currently can be fitted for this fall’s matches in Scotland, even though only 12 make the team.
Kuchar, the defending Memorial champion, said he started thinking about the 2014 Ryder Cup on that Sunday night after the U.S. blew a 10-6 lead and lost to Europe yet again at the 2012 matches at Medinah.
“You want another chance,” he said.
Then his Cup juices started flowing again this week because of the fitting and opportunity to see the clothing designs.
“My caddie went in and got fitted,” said Kuchar, third on the points list and in great shape to be one of the nine who qualify on points. “He was all psyched about the clothes ... pumped up telling me how cool that hats were and how cool some of the other gear was.”
This would be Kuchar’s third Ryder Cup. He calls the event “cool.” He says he still feels like a kid–largely because of the clothing part.
“One of the coolest things about going to those team events is the moment you walk in your hotel room and see all the clothes lined up on a clothing rack like you’d see in a store,” Kuchar said. “I think it’s a neat moment. You supposed to try everything on to make sure it fits so.
“I can’t wait. I’m like a kid trying everything on. I can’t wait to see how it all looks and which outfits I think are best. It’s still a very cool thing for me.”
